About Robot Unicorn Attack

Robot Unicorn Attack is a 2010 endless runner by Spiritonin Media Games for Adult Swim. You play a robot unicorn galloping across floating platforms through a dreamy sky. The unicorn runs automatically and faster over time; your job is to jump between platforms, dash through obstacles and stay alive as long as possible.

Each game gives you three wishes – three lives. Crash into a crystal star or fall between platforms and you lose one. Points come from the distance you run, the crystal stars you smash with your dash and the small fairies you collect. The soundtrack and the over-the-top visuals are a big part of the experience: earnest, sparkly and very, very pink.

Stuck? Hints, gentlest first

Hint 1 – dash through stars

Crystal stars block the way. Only a dash breaks them safely – jumping into one ends your run.

Hint 2 – double jump late

The second jump is your rescue. Save it until you see where the next platform is, instead of using it straight away.

Hint 3 – collect fairies

The small fairies build up your score bonus. Chain them by staying on long platforms and dashing through stars.

back in 2010

Robot Unicorn Attack was made by Spiritonin Media Games and published on Adult Swim's site in 2010. Its mix of a sparkling unicorn, rainbow skies and a completely sincere synth-pop ballad turned it into an instant internet joke – and a genuinely good endless runner.
