The thinking corner of the attic

Puzzle games were the respectable side of Flash. Teachers tolerated them, parents played them over your shoulder, and some of them were genuinely hard. This box collects the ones people still search for by name: Bloxorz, the block-rolling puzzle that has you tipping a 1×2 block across floating tiles until it drops upright into a square hole; The World's Hardest Game, which is less a logic puzzle than a test of nerve; and Snail Bob, where a snail walks steadily towards danger and you flip switches to keep him alive.

Physics, logic and "just one more level"

Physics games let the world do the work: you place, drop, remove or switch something, and gravity decides whether you were right. Wake up the Box, Electric Box and Truck Loader all live here. Pure logic puzzles are here too: Light Bot 2.0, which quietly taught a generation the basics of programming, Doodle God 2, where you combine the four elements into everything else, and picture-logic games such as Pixelo.

Series worth finishing

Two series get their own shelves. The Grow games by Eyezmaze ask you to place items in exactly the right order so that everything grows to its final form – there is one perfect sequence and many funny wrong ones. Home Sheep Home is a physics platformer starring Shaun the Sheep and friends, where three sheep of different sizes have to work together to get home.

How to play puzzle games here

Every game in this box runs in the browser. Most are played with the mouse; Bloxorz, The World's Hardest Game and Home Sheep Home use the arrow keys, so click inside the game first. Many puzzle Flash games used level codes rather than save files – keep them handy, or note the level you reached. If you get stuck, every game page has hints, gentlest first.

FAQ

What is the hardest puzzle Flash game?

The World's Hardest Game earned its name – a red square, a maze of moving blue dots and 30 levels with no room for error. Bloxorz is harder to think through, but forgives you more.

Are there level codes for Bloxorz?

Yes. Every Bloxorz stage has a six-digit code, so you can jump back to where you were. We list all 33 in our Bloxorz level codes guide.

Which puzzle game is best for kids?

Snail Bob and Home Sheep Home are gentle, colourful and played with simple clicks or arrow keys, while still getting properly tricky in later levels.
