About Skywire

Skywire is a 2007 Flash game by Nitrome, the British studio famous for its pixel art. You are in charge of a little cable car travelling along a single wire through increasingly dangerous terrain. Spikes, falling objects, moving machinery and other traps lie along the route, and one touch ends the run.

You cannot leave the wire – you can only move along it, faster, slower or backwards. That makes every hazard a timing puzzle: wait for the gap, move through, stop before the next one. The bright, detailed pixel art and the sense of a tiny, fragile car making its way through a hostile world made it one of Nitrome's best-loved early games.

How to play

  • Arrow keys move the cable car along the wire.
  • Avoid every hazard and reach the end of the line.

Stuck? Hints, gentlest first

Hint 1 – slow is safe

You control the car's speed along the wire. Creep up to each hazard, watch its timing, then move through the gap.

Hint 2 – stop and wait

Stopping completely is often the right move. Let moving obstacles pass before you continue.

Hint 3 – learn each section

Levels are fixed. Treat each hazard as its own small puzzle and remember how you passed it last time.

FAQ

How do you play Skywire?

Use the arrow keys to move the cable car back and forth along the wire, timing your movement to avoid every hazard until you reach the end.

Can I still play Skywire in 2026?

Yes. Adobe stopped supporting Flash in 2020, but Skywire runs on this page through a Flash emulator built into the player. Press Play and it starts in a few seconds.

Do I need Flash Player to play Skywire?

No. You don’t need to install Adobe Flash Player, a plugin or any download. Skywire runs in any modern browser such as Chrome, Firefox, Edge or Safari.

Can I play Skywire on my phone?

Skywire was made for a keyboard, so it plays best on a computer. Mobile browsers can load it, but without a keyboard the controls are hard to use.

Who made Skywire?

Skywire was made by NITROME and released in 2007. The game belongs to its creator; FlashAttic only embeds it so it can still be played.

Does Skywire save my progress?

FlashAttic remembers that you played Skywire and for how long on this device. Whether the game saves your level depends on the game itself – many Flash games use level codes or their own save slot.
