About Pandemic 2
Pandemic 2 is a 2008 strategy game by Dark Realm Studios in which you play a disease. You choose whether it is a virus, a bacterium or a parasite, give it a starting country and then watch as it spreads around a world map – through cities, airports and shipping lanes. The goal is to infect, and eventually wipe out, the whole world's population.
You spend evolution points on three kinds of upgrade. Symptoms make your disease more infectious or more deadly, but also more noticeable. Resistances help it survive hot, cold, wet or dry climates and medicine. Transmissions let it spread through air, water, insects or animals. Meanwhile, the world fights back: governments close borders, airports and ports, and researchers work towards a cure.

Why is Madagascar so hard to infect in Pandemic 2?
Madagascar can only be reached by sea or air in the game, and it closes its port at the first warning signs. Spreading there early, before your disease is noticed, is the classic solution.
Is this the same as Plague Inc.?
No. Pandemic 2 is an earlier Flash game with a similar idea; Plague Inc. is a separate commercial game by Ndemic Creations.
